Playing with Fire: Fire Safety and the Building Envelope

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

The tragic fire that occurred in London, England in June 2017 was a shock and wake up call to building engineers around the world. Could this happen in Canada? Judy will walk through the early information from the investigations into the Grenfell Tower fire and relate those findings to our design practices in Canada. Key elements of our Canadian Code requirements will be discussed, particularly with the intent to
understand the interrelationships between the requirements for exterior cladding, fire blocking, and materials.
