KEY RESULT AREAS FOR THIS ROLE
- BUILDING RESTORATION: Requires knowledge of an area of expertise within the Building Restoration and industry. Provides technical expertise for building envelope and/or rehabilitation projects such as exterior glazing, opaque wall assemblies, roofs, balconies, parking garages and at-grade and below-grade waterproofing and cladding systems. Performs building science diagnostics & condition investigations including the examination/testing of building envelope systems.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT:Provides guidance and training to Project Associates in the execution of projects. Review of deliverables to ensure they comply with client objectives. Manages project delivery, define project scope, specify deliverables, estimate and control project duration. Responsible for preparation or review of specifications & schematic design, contract administration. Coordinates Client and Contractor relations for conflict resolution and for the successful execution of construction projects. Participates in discussions and devises ways of reaching objectives in the most economical way and meets any unusual conditions affecting work progress.
- CLIENT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT:Strong client relationship management/development skills. Follow-up on requests and drive projects to completion. Answer emails immediately. Represents the company with clients on an ongoing basis. Continuously seeks feedback from clients and implements suggestions. Identifies future work at client properties.
- REVENUE GENERATION:Participates in short and long-range planning. Responsible for meeting financial targets.
WHAT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES ARE REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE
KNOWLEDGE
- Minimum 5 + years of Building science experience within the consulting sector specializing in Building Envelope Restoration, Building Condition Assessments, Reserve Fund Studies and/or Capital Planning.
- Licensed Professional Engineering (P.Eng)
- Proven Project Management expertise including: Contract Admin, Budgets, Estimates, Scheduling, Proposal Writing / Development
- Able to take Building Science Restoration projects from conception to completion including defining scope of works and specifications
- Technical expertise in the preparation of specifications & schematic design to govern repair/replacement of existing building assets
- Proven experience working on diverse building science projects on a variety of building types e.g. Multi-residential (Condominiums), Community Housing, Municipal Buildings, Commercial Offices, Recreational Facilities etc
- Strong technical project experience with building science / restoration components such as curtain walls, cladding, balconies, roofing and parking garages
- Strong expertise in preparing project proposals, technical specifications, Building Conditions Assessment reports
- Previous experience in providing cost estimates for remedial repairs
